Master of Engineering
The Duke Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) is an alternative to a traditional master of science program and will deepen your understanding of technology and help you develop the business leadership and management expertise you need to succeed in your career. In the Master of Engineering program, you will take specialized technical classes and a core of business leadership and management courses. A required internship or a project completes the degree.

M.Eng. in Electrical and Computer Engineering
M.Eng. students will complete the Core Industry Preparatory Courses and Internship, Departmental Requirements, and will choose technical electives in one of the following areas of concentration:
- Micro-Nano Systems
- Photonics
- Computer Engineering
- Sensing and Waves
- Signal Processing and Communications

M.Eng. in Photonics and Optical Sciences
M.Eng. students will complete the Core Industry Preparatory Courses and Internship, three technical electives, two of which will be selected from similar areas of concentration, and Departmental Requirements including:
- An advanced mathematics course
- Two Optics/Photonics courses
- One technical optics/photonics course from the BME department and one from the ECE department
