ECE research administrators assist the ECE faculty in creating budgets for grant applications and helping with other aspects of grant preparation. After grants are awarded, they monitor the disbursement of grant funds and reconcile financial statements. Additionally the staff works with Duke University Office of Research Support and the Office of Sponsored Programs to ensure full compliance with sponsoring agencies and other parties.

Kip Coonley, Undergraduate Laboratory Manager
As Undergraduate Laboratory Manager, Kip's primary responsibility is to oversee the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering's undergraduate instructional laboratories. This involves developing, in conjunction with the Director of Undergraduate Laboratories, the vision for labs including instruction, state-of-the art equipment, and effective space management. In coordination with instructors, Kip ensures that course needs and resources are met in laboratories used for both teaching and undergraduate research. He is responsible for supervising and instructing both undergraduate and graduate teaching assistants and providing the necessary support to ensure the highest quality of instruction in ECE courses and laboratories. Design and development of new laboratory experiments and laboratory safety compliance are some of his additional duties. |
